Modern engineering systems are increasing in complexity and demanding higher levels of performance, safety, durability, quality. This has led to an increase the number functional requirements system elements. Subsequently, meeting target performances schedules requires more design effort cost. To ensure on-time development delivery final system, engineers need allocate right amount available resources develop various subsystems. However, estimating efforts required a its constituents during early stage is significantly challenging. Often, initial estimations made by subject matter experts who base their judgments on perceived difficulty designing In this article, quantify difficulty, new metric based degree relationship between elements proposed. utilizes domain mapping matrix energy design. Using proposed metric, established demonstrated through case study involving column-type electric power steering system.
